How easy/hard was it?
The entire project felt like it should have been simple: drawing basic rectangles and triangles. Putting different dimensions in and working on different planes made it so much harder! The project wasn’t necessarily impossible to do, it just mostly took some time to figure out how to create something to match the description I would want to see.
What elements particularly bogged you down?
I was particularly bogged down with adding elements to the house that were necessary as well as making it look normal. For example, I needed to include windows that protruded on the second floor of the house; they were suppose to look like two mini houses attached to the roof. However, I could not get them to blend into the house naturally nor could I get the pieces to come up at first.
What compromises did you have to make?
It took a lot of time experimenting and playing around with the tools, but I eventually created an image I was relatively okay with. I created the image mostly by accident when I was fiddling with it and had to compromise with a look that didn’t quite match in my mind but seemed to get my idea across. It also looked a little uneven and definitely unfinished, but it had to do.
What humanistic uses can you envision for this tool in the areas of research or teaching?
I believe this tool can be used to visually describe a location in a teaching atmosphere. For example, teachers can create an image of a place so that students can get a better idea of what it looks like. This can transfer to research as well. It may allow people to see and study a place or environment they normally wouldn’t be able to be exposed to on a daily basis.
