Mapping the Squirrels of NYC

It is amazing how a CSV sheet can be turnt into an informative map through the ArcGIS software. At first, I felt overwhelmed and intimidated because I don’t know much about mapping, but as I played around with the different functions available, I realized how powerful and useful this application will be for data visualization.

I played around with representing different attributes of the squirrel like whether it’s been eating, or climbing or chasing…etc. I settled on displaying three things, it’s primary fur color, whether it was eating and the location it was found in.

I was wondering where there is an overwhelming population of gray squirrels, and whether it has something to do with climate.

Here’s my map!
