E-Portfolio on WordPress

Click here to see my page! It hasn’t gotten any good content yet, but for now, I am just familiarizing myself with the WordPress function.

I find the experience hard to control, and so I struggled a bit but I managed to put a sample together. I will continue to explore!

What might you do with this platform?

As the title suggests, I want to use this platform to store all my online presence. I think right now is a good time for me to gather all my online presence, and link it to this one page.

Also, I think I will use this platform to publish some of my works -like a semi-formal resume/statement.

I am excited to see how that works out.

I mean in this age and time, a classic resume may not cut it, especially if I want to work in the tech and media industry.

I also love the idea of documenting my life experience and growth as a person so for justlitatheng.com, I will include the following:

• background – where I come from, my education, my aspirations
• formal trainings – CS, CAMS, marketing, languages, horse riding and other experiences.
• thoughts – day-to-day dilemmas I face, and how I look at them and tackle them
• adventures & travels (maybe)
• documents and materials worth looking at – videos, poetry collections and novellas …etc.

“Rolling your own” VS. Hosted Site/ Social Media

Pros:

• full control of my online presence
• I can manipulate different aspects to my own liking.

Cons:

• I am inexperience and do not have enough time to maximize this opportunity.
• social media allows simple quick posts, and efficient
• hosted site takes care of the overall structure, and I can’t really affect the structure as someone using the hosted site.

I will learn more and will continue to find out about the pros and cons of this. I admit I don’t fully understand these concepts, and the pros and cons clearly yet, but I will do so through this course!
