A Model of my Home (A rough one)

Making this house was kinda hard. It involved a lot of moving around and changing the orientation. But in the end it wasn’t extremely difficult. I would definitely advise novices using SketchUp that you can set the height and width of any structure you’re drawing, as this makes things much easier. I learnt this too late so I could not make the proportions of my house accurately. It was also very hard to make balconies so I had to settle for windows. But in the end, I think it came out pretty well.

  1. Sketch Up is fairly easy to learn intuitively, but there are a few shortcuts to learn through tutorials or outside instruction to make the process more efficient. In addition, the 3D component requires all sides of the model to be taken into consideration when creating shapes and designs.

  2. Those round pillars make things tough, but you achieved the overall shape of the house, so well done. One tip: zero thickness geometry is challenging, so push/pulling the porch roof into a box instead of a plane will make it easier to align and intersect components.
