First SketchUp Work_My House

Untitled1         Untitled2

This is the house that resembled my house in some way (the color of the roof and the texture of the wall). SketchUp is pretty user-friendly, I simply follow the steps we built the doghouse in class and experienced with more texture on different kinds of surface. I found the translucent texture works pretty good on the window, and there are 3 options that helps me with windows in different directions. It makes the 3D model more animating and when you rotate the house you can even see the clouds reflection moves on the windows on the roof. However when I tried to use the wrap function to add more edges to the house, I found it hard to manpulate and give up in the end.

Tips:

  1. It took me a while to calibrate the roof shape and the Move action may not act as what we want.  I found that draw additional lines across the surface can help telling the computer what we want   exactly, which makes me feel that make reference lines and shape is a good way of get things down in SketchUp. However if you get really messy, start over may always be a fair choice.
  2. If you are good at math and space geometry, you can always make the groundstone of your structure the exact size you want and add blocks of certains size to avoid further           calibration.
