So far, we have contacted the archivist for any news stories related to football, particularly in the ’40s to the 2000s, especially the 70′ to late 2000s. And we have found the win/loss records.
One issue is that our premise was about the downfall of the Carleton Knights football team, but in reality, the team has taken 2 MIAC Championships home in the last 20 years, so we are instead looking into trends and looking for concurring events that can detail the ups and downs of the football team. We also will not rely on statistical information and will also use archived stories to look for the happenings behind the trends.
To show the the statistical trends and find the averages of wins and/or losses, we will use a spreadsheet to do this. For the stories, we can read through the most important ones and also use a Text analysis tool for other stories to see which terms come in the most besides the obvious.
Currently, our project has a slow start, but it will have a very strong finish. The final piece will definitely be the timeline, but by 9th week we’ll have the data interpreted and highlighted for importance (wins).
