Virtual Home

I made a 2D image of my current house. The process was kind of hard trying to figure it out by myself, but I was able to get a hang of how to use sketch-up. With the addition of the youtube tutorials, I was able to do most of the functions to build my house pretty easily. In my opinion, the easiest part of sketch-up process was making the squares and the basic foundations of my house. My home is mostly shaped like a rectangular prism, so it was not that hard to build as opposed to houses that are not shaped like a

rectangle prism. Another easy component of the sketch-up process was the use of the 360 view so I can see the structure of my home from different angles to make my 2D home as accurate as my real home.

There were a few things that I had difficulty with when I started to use sketch-up. Firstly, I had a lot of difficulty making the roof of the house when I, at first, did not refer to the tutorial. The tutorial is very useful to learn how to use tasks such as spreading the shape you make to make it into a 2D shape. Secondly, I had some trouble zooming in and out of the image to be able to view a specific aspect of the house or the general view of the house. Being careful with the mouse or the touchpad on your computer and laptop is important when trying to change the view of your product. Lastly, I had trouble with the accuracy of my shapes and lines I was trying to create. This is a minor error, but could effect the result of the product being made later on in the process. It is important to erase the errors and redo what you were trying to make in order to be very accurate.

Tips: One tip I think could be beneficial for the novice sketch up user is to use computer with a mouse or a laptop with a mouse because it would be more sufficient for the user in navigating the views of whatever is trying to be made.
