Spreadsheets and Relational Databases

There are some benefits that the Spreadsheet contains. It is easy to manipulate data in the spreadsheet. Simple and some complicated calculations can be performed in the spreadsheet. For example, users can use various formulas to calculate results or manipulate the relationship between columns. In addition, the spreadsheet is easier to edit and change certain data. To delete a cell or even a column (or row) is fairly easy operation in the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet also makes the presentation of data easy. Users can insert graphs to present their results in the Spreadsheet.

However, the spreadsheet is not user-friendly when it needs to operate a large amount of data. The calculations may be slower. The spreadsheet is not designed to work with a lot of data. It may even make mistakes if users need it to handle lots of data. Another downside is that the spreadsheet does not have a security system. Any user who can access to the spreadsheet document could edit the date in the way they want. It is also hard to trace changes.

Relational databases are more difficult to use. They require users to encode data in a more structured logic. When users categorize things, they need to encode them in Databases. Databases are not designed to work with a small amount of data. They are very useful with a large amount of data. Databases can store a large amount of data and export data into spreadsheet/flat databases for further manipulation. However, relational databases also need to develop a security system to protect data and information.

My Webpage Designing Experience

I wanted to try having a picture on the front of my webpage, so I downloaded a theme that allows me to place an image right on the front page. I also wanted a more “pastel-like” color scheme for the fonts and links, so I used the customization tools WordPress provides to modify some basic elements of the webpage. I really like the customization tools provided by WordPress: they really simplify the process of website design! I will modify it further with the aid of plugins or CSS. Using CSS, I attempted to change the header into red colored fonts, but I think I accidentally type the code in the comments section, will fix that soon!
