From the Commonplace Book:

Here is a 3D flyover map tour following the rails of the historically named MNS (Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern Railway) which is now called the 52 railway and no longer operates. This railway, whose construction started in 1908, crossed from 50th St. and Nicollet Ave. in Minneapolis, down into the Minnesota River Valley, and through Savage and Lakeville to reach Northfield with an extension later added in 1913 to go from Northfield to Randolph for passenger service. This railway is therefore what helped connect Randolph quadrangle to the rest of the area and the greater cities of Northfield and Minneapolis. According to historical train schedules, two trains would run daily between Northfield and Randolph. Follow one of these trains in this map.

Go through the slides to get the 3D tour, and click on the point features (the stars or trains) to read the pop-up with details on the history of this railway.
