This map was created by Leanne Knott, who works for the Goodhue County Parks Department. The very fact that Goodhue County employees a GIS specialist to create maps of this nature illustrates the overall importance of the trail to the community and local government as a whole. The trail was created as a result of citizens banding together to create a local recreational attraction after the railway was abandoned (as referenced in Cannon Valley Trail Authority Video).
