The above street map shows what is left of the Cannon Falls railroad in my quadrangle. While the old railroad used to go straight through Cannon Falls all the way up to Red Wing, the current rail stops completely in Cannon Falls, where multiple grain elevators (visible in the Google Street View Web App posted above) are located for local farmers to bring their product. The rail has gone from being the cornerstone of Cannon Falls’ economy, to now largely being an old relic of the past for most.
