The above timeline serves as some historical background for the Cannon River itself. Important in this timeline is the recognition of Native peoples and cultures that long preceded the White settlers in the region. While my map doesn’t focus upon these Native histories specifically, it is essential that we recognize their presence and importance in a discussion of the area.
