So far, My group has done a great job of collecting data. We’ve looked through the Carleton college archive to find zoobooks for years 1955-1966. We each divided amongst ourselves different Zoobook to convert to pdf files, and manually edit unnecessary and miscellaneous information. My personal work so far has been converting these zoobooks to pdf downloads and to txt format using pdfminer. After doing that, deleting and correcting the txt files. After manually going through the information and making corrections to names of states, countries, I converted the txt file using sublime text editor to csv.
For the near future, my personal goal is to find ways to easily collect data on students from years 1916-1954. Because we only found zoobooks from year 1955 and on, we have to find other resources to collect data on the mid 40 years.
