Food at Carleton: Final Project

What is it about ?

For our final project, Daniel, Faith, Ginnifer and I( Lita) decided to look into how specific events in the past have shaped the current food culture at the school and how that affects the students of today.

Using the archives, we have excavated information regarding community eating, civil rights at school, food and health trends, and big events to link Carleton’s past to our present.

We believe this project is important, because it is vital for us to know where our food sources come from, what affects the way we eat and how can food bring people together. It is more so important now than ever with the COVID-19 outbreak causing a national emergency in the US, and more specifically, a state of emergency for the country and for Carleton college. how did this affect the food systems and dining culture at Carleton?
